1. Who is Newton?

Newton is a Canberra based technology company established in 1989. We specialise in developing multimedia split screen systems that are visually attractive, easy to use and produce tangible business benefits. Our activities take us all over Asia, and we have business partner relationships with NEC and MultieMedia, an international broadband services supplier.

2. What is e.envoy?

Newton's e.envoy solution creates and assembles multimedia content for display on all sorts of equipment - from televisions, information systems and computers to giant outdoor multi-screens. e.envoy allows for audio, video, text messaging, slides and ancillary information such as advertising or rolling text messages to be complied from separate sources in real time and shown in a multiple split screen environment in a format predetermined by the owner.

3. What is e.envoy used for?

e.envoy can be used to display multimedia content in all sorts of environments on all sorts of devices. Whether its is used to run outdoor advertising on giant multi-screens, display information schedules in airports on medium-sized plasma screens, or as a long distance education tool using interactive television screens, e.envoy allows you to communication like no other medium.

4. Who can use e.envoy?

Any organisation who wants to communicate more effectively can use e.envoy. e.envoy enables organisations to display messages in a split-screen environment and dynamically control the information from a single remote site. e.envoy is perfect in a retail or banking environment, as a tool for government and public transport operators or as a display mechanism in large sporting stadiums.

5. Do I need broadband access to use e.envoy?

If your usage is focussed within a limited geographical area, for example a sporting arena, then it may not be necessary to be connected to a network because the display content could be generated locally. However, a key feature of e.envoy is its ability to dynamically control, change and update content across disparate systems from a single remote site. For this type of application, connectivity via cable or satellite is necessary.

6. Can e.envoy run on my organisation's intranet network?

In some cases it may be possible for e.envoy to be connected to your organisation's intranet. Suitability will depend on the intranet's data capacity, geographical location and reach, and your organisation's security procedures.

7. Do Newton install and set up the whole system?

Yes. Newton not only supply e.envoy, but will work closely with your organisation to implement the system and the associated network technologies. Our priority is to ensure that e.envoy is seamlessly integrated into your organisation with a minimum of fuss.

8. What happens if the system breaks-down?

e.envoy is an industrial strength system built to an exacting standard utilising some of the best componentry available. In the unlikely event that one of the independent systems malfunctions, Newton can either fix the problem online or replace the complete system within hours.

9. Is e.envoy easy to use?

Absolutely. There is no complex software to learn, and for most applications, no keyboard or mouse. There is simply a single button on the outside of the e.envoy hardware that turns the system on and off. For organisations who want to run the whole system themselves, including developing screen designs and loading content, Newton provide a comprehensive five day training program.

10. What software does e.envoy run on?

e.envoy is built on a Unix platform using a combination of sophisticated software tools and Newton's own programs. The elegant combination of Newton's intellectual property, a highly reliable operating platform (Unix), select software tools from other companies, and Newton's own purpose-built hardware creates the simple-to-use, yet highly sophisticated e.envoy system.

11. Can I run e.envoy on a personal computer?

e.envoy processes large amounts of data on the fly to produce a robust display viewed by very important people, your staff, your customers, the world. Reliability and technical performance are critical to its success. Newton provides a tightly optimised P.C. hardware and UNIX operating system that runs e.envoy ensuring that the system performs smoothly all day, every day. These benefits are lost if e.envoy was run on a normal multi-purpose personal computer.

12. I've seen other systems like this, what's different about e.envoy?

There are other systems that have some of the features that e.envoy has, such as split screens or remote monitoring. However, there is no other system that Newton is aware off that has such extensive features as e.envoy, all seamlessly integrated into the one easy to use, cost effective system.

Upon seeing e.envoy for the first time, people have said, "I've seen this technology used to make television news programs." This is true. What makes e.envoy unique is that organisations can display and distribute their own exclusive content as professionally as a slick television station.

13. A system like e.envoy must cost a lot?

Essentially e.envoy is a "studio in a box" - for a fraction of the cost. In fact, it is quite probable that for the same amount of money your organisation currently spends on information distribution, you can install and reap the benefits of e.envoy. More often than not, the e.envoy solution can be completely financed by revenue generated through advertising, making the installation and operation of the system a profitable business venture.
